Summer fun is coming to a close, and we will soon be enjoying the crisp air and the beautiful colors of Fall. But, I do hope you took some time to rest, relax, and enjoyed some incredible summer adventures with family and friends —you deserve it!

But maybe instead, you've been running around taking care of everybody else and letting your self-care slide.

Are you nodding your head? Yes! I'm going to give you a simple exercise to create space for your self-care.

Here's the thing…

There's only so much time in the day. And we all have to choose where we spend our energy. Unfortunately, it's easy to get so busy juggling short-term priorities that you neglect the things that'll make your life better in the long run.

But if you're not making space for your own wellness or for your dreams and goals, how can you ever expect to live the life you want?

Thanks to my hectic and crazy life, I wouldn't stick with it or see the results I desired until a good friend taught me time blocking.

And what I have experienced is when I implemented time blocking, I found myself with more time. I didn't worry about the things that could wait. My life just got happier and more manageable.

Let's Put on Our Mind Hat

Sometimes we don't have enough time in our day; we are spinning our wheels and feel this is the same old groundhog day because our mind is automatically programmed to resist anything uncomfortable.

The first thing you want to do is attack the most challenging thing on your list. After that, make the most complicated thing the priority. Some will say do the easiest things first, so you feel you accomplished something.

If you fill your day with the easy things you can accomplish in your sleep, you are going to run out of time.

Block out your calendar in 15, 30, or 60-minute increments.

I personally like the digital calendar because I can set it to yell at me, "Time to move on to the next task." We all can get caught up in what we are doing and not move on to the other tasks that need to get done. My Laptop dings, my phone dings.

An hour and a half could go by, and you have done nothing because your first 15-minute task was to scroll through FB, and you get caught up in people's stories and doing 100 emoji or comments.

Mind track your brain. Our brain wants to do the fun and easy stuff first.

Golden Nugget:

What can you do while you are doing errands or don't take up a lot of brain capacity? What can you do to work your business/career while you are doing something else? Work the Nooks and crannies in your day. Use your minutes wisely.

Master Your Day-to-Day With Your Calendar Versus it Mastering You.

Time Blocking Categories: 15 or 30-minute increments

  • Self Care – This is first on your list... It's the hardest thing to do! If you don't have your health how can you have the energy and brain focus to get things done

  • Personal Dev – listening to YouTube videos, podcasts, or reading a book that you are learning something that will help you achieve your goals in life.

  • Business/Career

  • Family Commitment

  • Date night

What do you do for self-care?

Wishing you extraordinary health today and all the day to come!
